Championship's Dilemma.

After I won my second to the last game,my last game opponent told me ‘’wag mong gagalingan mamaya at wag kang tatayo ha’’. And I was like smiling and telling her ‘’Ngek, ikaw nga diyan yung magaling e’’. And yeah, I was sort of tensed because I knew she watched my game with the CBA stude, and according to one of our players, she watched how I moved my pieces. And again, I was like trembling. Got cold hands. As soon as I ate my lunch, ive been talking to our coach and co players. According to our coach, whatever move I am comfortable of doing, I should go for it. That time, I was thinking that I should change the opening because the Allied girl has seen me did that.  So my co-players, Meldrick and Kim played with me. I stick to my opening during our practice and they needed to destroy my defense. I needed them to do that so I’d be geared enough when that happens on my game. So we practiced and practiced. So after several practices, we went to the Library where chess tournament is being held. Game starts at 2:30pm. While waiting at our game, I played with this guy who was super good at chess. Little did I know, my friends Lindsay and Heather were on the same table as I was. Ahh.. CUTIE! Thanks girls for the support! They dropped by to say goodluck. Last minute and I was like going to change the opening or just stick to what I practiced? ( I was having cold hands). Our chairman gave us chewing gum so we can relax on the game because we were really queasy. Sheesh. The game will be starting… I sat, and did a little chit-chatting with my opponent. We shook hands, and game on!! I did my opening. I’m on the first move.. I STICK to what ive practiced. And I moved so fast. She was moving her pieces a little slow and I noticed that she has been thinking so hard on my first 10 moves.  As soon as everything went well, (it was like.. umaayon kasi sakin yung game). Nervousness just ebbed. And I started attacking her pieces. And I WON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was like in a state of …. ‘’OH MY GOD. Wuhooo!’’  that’s my initial feeling. I was super happy. I GOT IT! She asked for a rematch , but the rematch wont count at all. No point or whatsoever. She just wanted another game and wanted to beat me but I was just so lucky that she was not able to beat me up for the second time. She told me this ‘Ikaw ang tinik sa laro ko e’. I smiled and laughed. I had a good game though. Just didn’t expect that it will be that fast. What she told me was it was her first time to have encountered that opening and the good thing was. I STICK!

Two words I learned and forever treasure that day.. FIANCHETTO and VICTORY.

:Fianchetto was the opening I did.

Fortunately, the other two girls won their games too. Our Board3 girl is the Board 3 Champ(8-0), Board 1 girl on 6-2.  Ako on Board 2, 8-0. That  made us the School’s CHESS GIRLS CHAMPION!  To God be the glory.
The CHESS GIRLS!
(L-R) Mara, the Board 3 Champ!
Me: Board 2 Champ!
Iarra: She was not able to play, she's our hanging player. but she super supported us, all the way!
Rochelle: With a standing of 6-2. Good enough! Im sure she'll be smashing the chess boards next year!

<3 CHESS TEAM!

Surprsingly, 23 was my jersey's number. Well I guess that has been my lucky number. ☺
I dont really care how much this medal costs. As long as I know that I worked hard to get this. ☺

The guys in the team. L-R. Meldrick. Allan. Greg.
Meldrick has been my practice buddy during my preparation for my last game.
A shot minus Kim.

I guess that will be the last time that Id be playing chess on a big event. But I’ll surely miss be forever inlove with Chess. It’s not a Geek’s game. It is everybody’s game. ☺

To God be the glory!
